An ‘Open’ Country and a ‘Closed’ Country

The country of Anguilla has become country 196 in which The Gideons International is organised.  There are 7 new Gideons and 6 new Auxiliary.  The potential for Scripture distribution is estimated to be 10,000 copies annually. Anguilla is situated in the Caribbean with a population of about 15,500 of which 45.2% are Protestant.  Anguilla is a British dependent territory.  The country will be assigned to Gideon Region Latin America North and Caribbean.

At the recent meeting of the Gideon International Outreach Committee, after much prayer and many attempts to revive the ministry in Eritrea, it was necessary to close this country. We have not been successful in visiting the country due to unrest and not being able to obtain a visa. In addition, we have not been able to communicate with anyone or to ship Scriptures for a number of years.  This will bring us back to 195 Countries!

Thank you for being faithful to pray for countries where the Gideons are not organised. God is continuing to bless by honouring those prayers.  Please remember to lift in prayer these new Gideons and Auxiliary as they begin to distribute the Word of God as members of The Gideons International. Pray also for open doors and open hearts as God’s Word is distributed and the news of Jesus Christ is shared.
