Niggling curiosity
I am writing to thank you for putting a Bible in my room at university at Trinity College, Carmarthen.
I grew up in a non-Christian home, my parents have never really been to church since they were much younger when my grandparents took them. This had led me to not really being interested in God and Christianity.
When I was 16 I started studying Christianity at school and this set me thinking what it was all about. It was like a niggling feeling that never really went away. Looking back I realise that God had chosen me and has always been with me just waiting for me to accept Him.
When it came to choosing my university something drew me to Trinity College. I visited it and looked at the area etc – I loved the atmosphere. I found out while visiting it that it was a church college and I decided to accept a place to start last September.
Once at university I made good friends with a boy on my course – Joel. He was a strong Christian and he took me to visit and stay with his friends nearby. They run a Christian centre near Meidrim called Gilcoed. They made me feel so welcome and comfortable, I really enjoyed spending the weekend with them. They invited me to a Christian event for young people from the surrounding area, which included an evening of worship, teaching, fun and games.
I loved it.
I found a Gideon Bible at Gilcoed in my room and started reading it. I was drawn in and read more and more.
The lady who runs Gilcoed suggested passages to read to help me let God into my life. I was also attending church and understanding more of the feelings I had experienced.
I strongly believed that God had always had a plan for me, He encouraged me to study RE at school, helped me decided to go to Trinity College and gave me friendship with Joel. I realised that the niggling curiosity I felt was God trying to make me open my heart and give myself to Him.
I strongly believe that the Bible in my room at University is what really made me start to understand these things and link up the jigsaw in my mind.
I hope you will be encouraged by my story and I am thankful that you gave me the wake up call I needed! I am now worshipping God regularly and I'm spending the summer working at Gilcoed to share my faith with children on summer camp.
Thank you for your part in me finding God!
