Airedale-Wharfedale Branch mini blitz
On a misty murky March day, Gideons of the Airedale and Wharfedale Branch arrived in Grassington in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The objective was to distribute copies of Hotel Bibles to the local B&Bs; Guest Houses; Country Pubs with rooms and Hotels in the area of Upper Wharfedale. The team of 5 were assembled for a 'mini blitz' on the Upper Wharfedale area.
Hotels had received correspondence beforehand from the Hotel Secretary, alerting them to the date, and advising them of the fact that Scriptures would be available free of charge. They were also sent a copy of the leaflet of commonly asked questions about Gideon Scriptures.
It was a great day, and the team placed 163 Hotel Bibles and gave out 23 Personal Worker Testaments to staff and owners of the various establishments. Conversations with hoteliers ranged from a father whose son was about to go out to Afghanistan as a bomb disposal engineer, and those hoteliers in the midst of the furore around the Channel 4 programme giving away a house in Grassington.
The team also visited Scargill House, a Dales retreat venue for groups, and the rooms there were placed with Scriptures.
This is the second time the Airedale and Wharfedale Gideons have used the mini blitz technique in Upper Wharfedale, and going as a team enables a lot of ground to be covered all on the same day. We pray that God will use those Scriptures placed to speak to guests who holiday in the Yorkshire Dales this coming summer.
