ISB Madagascar - John Middleton
Madagascar - October 2010
To be invited to take part in an International Scripture Blitz is a humbling experience and an awesome responsibility.
On reflection God graciously equipped me on both counts. The experience of working side by side with local Gideon and Auxiliary members to place 221,002 scriptures in five days was indeed humbling .
These were men and women with a mission for souls and they had worked tirelessly prior to our arrival to ensure that they knew where every placement was to be held - no false starts - and that there were enough delegates to carry out a friendly but effective distribution.
I have never experienced the freedom to ‘preach the Word’ before in schools, so I learned a lot. I do pray that our mutual support of them proved equally beneficial.
Madagascar is a third world country. Poverty and destitution abound, but God's holy Word gives hope and my prayer is that the support of two Australians, three Americans, a German and one from Britain to these lovely Gideon and Auxiliary nationals will further spur them on to greater conquests in His name.
Their enthusiasm put me to shame, their commitment was infectious and their joy in the work was a privilege to share.
