Gideon Bibles come to the National League

Woking fc presentation

When Woking FC Chaplain, Ian Nicholson, visited Torquay United FC in his official capacity, he was extremely pleased to see a Gideon Bible displayed in their boardroom.

So much so, he contacted Gideon Headquarters to try and get similar Bibles, suitably badged for his own club. National Office immediately referred the request over to the local branch – Surrey North - with the result that Woking FC are now in possession of five crested Bibles for their own boardroom and 300 badged Testaments that they have been able to offer to members of the first team and to their Academy players.

A presentation was made before their home match with local rivals Aldershot Town. Unfortunately, there was no divine intervention during the game with the away team winning 2-1! The photograph shows – from left to right – Colin Henderson (Surrey North Branch member), Rosemary Johnson (Chairman, Woking FC) Ian Nicholson (Chaplain) and Magnus Work (Surrey North).
