My first encounter with Christianity was during my school days when I was given a small red Gideon Testament. I had never really come across the Bible before as I was not from a Christian family and at school Christianity was not dealt with in depth. But in later years at work I found the Bible very helpful. The sections on where to find help were very good and I turned to them at difficult times.

At about the age of nineteen I decided that I really wanted to find out more about Jesus Christ and why He died. In a short space of time I met up with an old school friend whom I knew to be a Christian. She invited me along to church, I enjoyed the services and began to learn more about God and why He sent his Son to die on a cross.

During this time I gave my heart to the Lord and wanted to live my life according to His will. I have been a Christian now for about two years and was baptised last December.

I am partially sighted and the New Testament and Psalms in Ultra Giant Print has helped me all through my school life. I have used the prayers and read God's Word which has truly blessed me. I started to attend my local Salvation Army Citadel a year ago and your gift has helped me to take part in readings and spiritual guidance.

I now have chosen to commit myself fully to God by becoming a Salvationist. It is the Bible which continues to reveal God to me as I read at night. My life has truly changed for the better over this last year as God plays an ever increasing role in everything I do - what more can I say but thank you for your precious gift to me.
